I help residents become citizens and keep DACA recipients current, in English, Punjabi or Hindi.

My family came to Bakersfield from a village near Jalandhar when I was six. At our gurdwara I watched elders study for the citizenship test from photocopied lists, worried about one English word.

I handle naturalization from the first review to the oath, along with DACA renewals and work permits. I practice the interview with every client until it feels like a conversation. I don't speak Spanish; when a family needs both languages, Evangelina or Celestino joins us.
