Questions

Questions we hear every week

Short answers to what families ask most. Your case will have its own questions; bring them to the consultation.

Your first visit

What should I bring to the consultation?

Any letters from immigration or the court, your passport and ID, birth and marriage certificates, and a list of every entry and exit you remember. If you have nothing, come anyway; we start from your story.

Can we meet by video?

Yes. Many clients in Delano, Wasco and Tehachapi meet us by video first and come in only to sign.

Is what I tell you private?

Yes. What you tell your lawyer is confidential, whether or not you hire us. We don't report anyone to immigration.

Fees

How do you charge?

Most cases have a fee we quote in writing before we start, often paid in monthly parts. Government filing fees are separate, and we tell you each one ahead of time.

Does the consultation fee count toward my case?

Yes. If you hire us within thirty days, we subtract it from your fee.

Your case

How will I know what's happening?

We send copies of every notice and call when something moves. Once a month we check every open case, and you can always call or text the office.

Someone offered to do my papers for less. Should I let them?

Please talk to us first. Notarios and consultants who aren't lawyers can file the wrong form or make a false claim, and the harm can last for years. Only lawyers and accredited representatives may give immigration advice.

What if my case is denied?

Depending on the case, there may be a motion, an appeal or a new filing. We explain each option in writing, with what it would cost.

A question still growing about your case?

A consultation is the place for the questions that don't fit on a page.
